About WRC

Historical Background

Westminster Refugee Consortium was formed in April 1995 to bring together all communities in Westminster whose members are seeking refuge in the UK. The Consortium aims to provide a forum through which the interests of these communities may be represented.

Main Aims

Westminster Refugee Consortium is the CVs for Westminster refugee community sector. Our work is to empower refugee communities, through the development of the Refugee Community Organisations, to meet their needs. We want to enhance the ability of Refugee Community Organisations to engage local refugee communities and to offer effective services to individual refugee users.

The project aims to:

  • Support and enhance the work of all Refugee Community organisations in Westminster.
  • Increase opportunity for the socially excluded communities of Westminster.
  • Help people to access information and mainstream services.
  • Empower and build their confidence.
  • Reduce isolation, promote social inclusion. And
  • Support young people among the refugee communities.

Our Work

Our main activities include:

  • Assisting Refugee Community Organisations with capacity building.
  • Collecting, assembling and disseminating information to organisations and their members.
  • Developing joint innovative projects with our affiliated members and partners.
