Strategic priorities

 

The strategic priorities for the SES were drawn up in the context of

 

• a review of progress in implementing the Equality and Diversity

Strategy

• current developments in equalities legislation

• current developments in health policy

• current PCT priorities

• available information on health inequalities

• the findings of previous consultation exercises

 

Reducing health inequalities – especially in relation to health promotion and disease prevention activity (Choosing Health priorities), Cardiovascular Disease (CVD), Diabetes, Cancer screening and Mental Health. Developing the commissioning PCT (contracting, Practice Based Commissioning (PbC), provider services reconfiguration, Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA)).

Westminster Refugee Consortium is pleased to conclude that the event surpassed our expectations and participation and has created a forum where different community groups from various ethnic groups shared through activities, performance and food, the experience and knowledge characteristic of each community. People danced together, played together and on that day language was never a barrier. Children and parents also had the opportunity to engage in activities and learning via the workshops we have set up for them.

Free Community Cohesion Event

Culture 2 Culture 4 is a free community cohesion event.

21st June, 12pm to 9pm

  • Workshops for adults/children
  • Dance Performances and Acrobats
  • Ethnic Food Festival
  • Bouncy Castle and Play Area
  • Live Bands from Somalia, Sudan and Brazil

This event intends to promote community cohesion and is part of the celebrations of Refugee Week 2008. The main goal of this project is to enhance and embrace our community’s social and cultural values, support inter-group mixing by offering this unique cross cultural experience.

Community cohesion event

Free community event, Copaca band and food band

We are inviting the local community to an event promoting community cohesion and 255 Harrow Road W2 on Saturday 21 June 2008. There will be children and family activities, including bouncy castle, face painting, drama and poetry and dance workshops throughout the afternoon. You can sample deliciously spicy meals and deserts while enjoying the sound of Sudanese, Somali and Brazilian rhythm.

The event is organised by refugee community organisations in Westminster. It starts at 12 Noon and ends at 08:30 PM. All welcome, just turn up or contact Patricia Cunha for information at Westminster Refugee Consortium on 0207 286 3111”.
